Embark on a journey to explore Raufarhólshellir, one of the longest and most renowned lava tubes in Iceland. Located just a short 30-minute drive from Reykjavík, this natural wonder is easily accessible all year round.
Formation: Thousands of years ago, a massive volcanic eruption pushed tons of molten lava through the earth, creating a 1,300-metre long lava tube. Known as Raufarhólshellir, this lava tube is one of the longest in Iceland.
Exploration: An unforgettable experience, our guests have the unique opportunity to witness the inner workings of a volcanic eruption. As you navigate through the tunnel, you'll follow the flow path of the lava as it forced its way through the earth centuries ago.
Standard Tour: Our standard tour offers a comfortable and enjoyable exploration of the tunnel. We've built a footbridge and installed impressive lighting in parts of the tunnel to highlight the powerful volcanic activity that formed it.

Tour departures: Every hour on the hour (from 09 to 17o´clock)
Duration: 50 - 60 minutes
Fitness level needed: For most people although we do not recommend to those that have difficulties with balance, difficulties walking on uneven surface (such as snow) or difficulties walking up or down steep stairs.
