What to expect?
Join us on this remarkable 3-hour tour that begins from Grundarfjörður. We drive towards the base of the iconic Snæfellsjökull glacier, meandering through a scenic mountain pass that offers panoramic views of the stunning surrounding area.
Once we reach the glacier's foot, our snow-cat is prepared to take you towards the summit of Snæfellsjökull, or as close as we can get, considering the weather and ice conditions.
Rising 1,446 meters above sea level, Snæfellsjökull is one of Iceland's most renowned sites, thanks largely to Jules Verne's novel "Journey to the Center of the Earth." Verne depicts an entrance to a passage leading to the Earth's core located on this very glacier. Snæfellsjökull is also believed to possess a mystical power and is often considered one of the world's major energy points.
During our expedition, we make several stops on the glacier. This will allow you to disembark, walk around, and capture beautiful photos of this breathtaking location. Please note that while there is an opportunity to experience the glacier up close, this is not a glacier hike.
The views from the glacier largely depend on weather conditions and visibility. Regardless, this trip promises a unique and unforgettable encounter with one of Iceland's most enchanting and mystical natural wonders.
Good to know
This isn't a glacier hike. You will have some time on the glacier, but most of the time will be spent on the bus and snow-cat.
The possibility of reaching the top of the glacier depends on ice conditions and the presence/absence of crevasses. Safety is our foremost priority.
Regardless of whether you opt for the regular tour or choose to follow us with your own vehicle, the meeting and starting point remain in Arnarstapi.
