The main purpose of this itinerary is to dive deep into the Finnish Lapland, to enjoy the unparalleled natural beauty of the Arctic and the Northern Lights, to learn more about the local Sami culture and to experience the exciting Arctic outdoor adventures. Taste the pure Arctic cuisine!
For those who ache for the winter fairy tale land, Finnish Lapland is definitely a dream come true! The quiet wilderness, the dreamy mystery of the Arctic Circle, and the reindeer running in the virgin forest… these are all important factors for a relaxing holiday. The itinerary is a relaxing and deep Lappish tour, for those wanting to get rid of the busy city life, we offer you this rejuvenation experience.

Day 1: Full day Helsinki Guided Tour and Sightseeing, Sleeper-train to Rovaniemi
Helsinki Cathedral / Uspenski Cathedral / Kauppatori Market / Temppeliaukio Church / Sibelius-park / Train to Rovaniemi
Explore the most significant and beautiful parts of Helsinki on this relaxed small group tour. Your guide will give you entertaining and informative insights into Helsinki’s rich history, impressive sights and culture.
We will stop at the city’s most significant sights such as the Senate Square, the cathedrals, the Government Palace, Temppeliaukio Church and the Helsinki Market Square with its vibrant atmosphere, overlooked by the presidential palace and overlooking the Baltic Sea.
In addition to the most important sights, your knowledgeable guide will teach you all about Finnish customs and traditions as well as current trends, Finnish design and everyday life.
Please, note: This is a walking tour, if you have luggage we recommend you to store it, for example at the train station.
In the evening, take the famous Santa’s Express train to Rovaniemi. The Finnish double-decker night train is a great and ecologic way of transportation from Helsinki to snow-covered Lapland in the north. See the beauty of Finland from the comfortable compartments of this train and wake up at the Arctic Circle the next morning.
Day 2: Welcome to Rovaniemi, The Official Hometown of Santa Claus!
Welcome to Rovaniemi. We will pick you up at the train station and transfer you to your hotel, where you can enjoy breakfast. Afterwards, you will be picked up for your trip.
Visit Santa Claus Village
Rovaniemi is the capital of Christmas spirit and the hometown of Santa Claus. Fulfill your childhood dreams of meeting the real Santa Claus in his Santa Claus village! Located on the Arctic Circle, you will also receive a certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle and will become a true Arctic trekker!
Day 3: Full Day of Winter Activities or Vikaköngäs hiking tour
Snowshoeing, Ice Fishing & Hunting Northern Lights Tour
Now that you have become a certified Arctic trekker, try out your newfound skillset with a snowshoe trek through the forest. Snowshoes distribute your weight over a larger area, allowing you to walk through deep snow without falling in. We continue through the frozen wilderness until we reach our ice fishing location. If luck is on your side, you can try your hand at catching a trophy. As the day starts coming to an end, you will settle down near a campfire and enjoy a barbeque lunch. Once nighttime comes, we will head out to a Northern Lights viewing location and go hunting for the Aurora.
Hunt for the Northern Lights in the middle of the untouched nature, escaping from the light pollution of the town. Taste a traditional Lappish barbecue sausages, Arctic fish soup and blueberry tea) and warm yourself by the fire while waiting for the magical lights.

Vikaköngäs hiking tour
Viikakongas area is a great outdoor destination near Rovaniemi, where you can feel the beauty of Lappish forests and lakes during a short walk (1–2 km).
Your guide will tell you more about Viikakongas hiking area with its huge variety of long and short distance trails, located next to the urban habitation. We recommend sporty clothing.
During the tour, you will have a BBQ (with sausages and blueberry juice) in a traditional kota with a stunning view on Lappish nature.
Day 4: Animal Fun Day with Zoo, Husky Farm & Reindeer Farm Visits
Ounasvaara hill, Reindeer & Husky Farm visit with short sleigh rides
Start your exciting Rovaniemi day tour with a tour to the Ounasvaara hilltop, the highest point of Rovaniemi. From the Ounasvaara top, you get to enjoy spectacular views of Finland’s arctic nature. Afterwards, you will head to the reindeer and husky farm Rovaniemi where you will enjoy a ride on a reindeer sledge. Moreover, when you’re done with the ride, our guides will take you to the husky farm where you will enjoy one of the most popular Lapland safaris. Rovaniemi husky safari is where you get a chance to meet the adorable huskies and, if the weather is cool enough, you get to experience once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride the husky sledge in Lappish outdoors.
Please note that the reindeer and husky sleigh rides are not available until the 15th of November or if there is not enough snow. Reindeer and Husky farm visits are possible all year around.
Wildlife Ranua Zoo
You will then be transferred to Ranua Wildlife Park. It is here that you meet the unique arctic wildlife. A walk in the nature-like Ranua is so refreshing. Also, you get to savour the traditional buffet lunch at the Ranua Zoo, in the midst of the Arctic forest.
Day 5: Free Day or Optional Tours
Today you have a free day so you can personalize your trip and choose the activity that best suits you. We have many options, but here are a few recommendations. If you are a nature lover, we recommend the trip to Korouma frozen waterfalls. If you want an extraordinary experience, choose the Ice Breaker cruise. For those who want to relax and admire snow art, we recommend a dinner in the Ice restaurant.
Day 6: Hunting the Northern Lights

Besides that Rovaniemi has many attractions that are worth a viewing, such as the Church or the Lumberjack’s Candle Bridge. Take advantage of the free time before your night tour and take a walk to discover the city.

Day 7: Scenic Train Ride back to Helsinki
Breakfast and check-out from your hotel. Scenic train ride crossing Finland's heartland, characterised by its countless lakes and magnificent forests. Arrival in Helsinki, ending point of this tour.
