What to expect?
Experience an action-packed arctic journey where you get to ride snowmobiles through stunning wilderness, meet enchanting reindeer, and energetic Alaskan Huskies.
Your experience begins with a meeting at our Safari Office or at our City Office, where you'll be greeted by your guide. You'll then gear up in warm winter overalls to ensure you're comfortable and protected during the ride. Next, we’ll check driving licenses for those who will be operating a snowmobile, followed by a safety briefing to go over important guidelines for a safe and enjoyable experience. Before setting off with the snowmobiles, your guide will give detailed driving instructions. After all the safety instructions are done, the real fun begins when it´s time to start your 1-hour long journey through stunning Arctic landscapes!
About halfway through, we’ll take a short break, giving you the chance to take some photos and switch drivers if you are traveling in pairs.
After the snowmobile journey, visit the husky and reindeers at Reindeer Manor, located about 20-minutes drive away from the center of Rovaniemi, where you can enjoy a 500m ride on your own reindeer sledge and receive a reindeer sledge driver’s license. Next, make your way to the Alaskan Huskies and experience them in action on a 500m long sleigh ride. Listen to the local reindeer herders as they tell you more about the herding lifestyle and how it is to be a reindeer herder in the 21st century.
This activity is perfect for families and beginners as the route will be tailored to your needs. This excursion is suitable for everybody, but adults require a valid driving license to drive a snowmobile. Children and adults without valid driver's licenses can join the safari comfortably seated on a sled behind the guide's snowmobile.
Additional information
Duration of the program about 6 hours. It is suited for adults and children.
In order to drive a snowmobile, a valid driver’s license (class B) is required. A provisional license or a picture of the driving license won’t be accepted. The driving license must be recognizable in English. If you do not bring your driving license you won’t be able to drive a snowmobile and no refund can be offered.
2 adults share 1 snowmobile. If the number of people in the group is an odd number, someone in the group will have to share a snowmobile with another member of the activity. Single driving is available as supplement for adults.
Children and adults without a drivers’ license can join the safari by sitting on the sledge.
Children 1-13 years old are seated in a sledge behind the guide’s snowmobile. We recommend one of the parents to sit with a small child in the sledge for the child’s safety.
If a child over 140 cm wishes to sit in a snowmobile as a passenger, a full adult price will be charged (according to availability).
Children under 2 year old are not recommended to join this tour.
The snowmobile driver is responsible for any damages to the vehicle, with a maximum personal self-liability of 950€ per person per snowmobile in case of an accident. Additional insurance can be purchased on site for 15€, reducing self-liability to 150€. This insurance must be purchased before the start of the tour.
Alcohol consumption is not allowed during the tour, and guests cannot participate if intoxicated.
