Ylläs: Wilderness Day at the Forest Lake

After a short drive, we carry the backpacks packed by our guide and trek for a distance of less than a kilometre to our private Lappish kota shelter on the lake shore of Saivojärvi. During the day, our guide will teach you how to fish from the shore or boat, take a dip in the refreshing lake or learn how to make feather sticks to light the campfire.

We savour packed lunches of sandwiches and sausages fried over the pleasing glow of the open fire. If Ahti, the mythological Finnish god of water, is feeling benevolent and gives you a catch, we will prepare a meal with the fish cooked on the campfire. In the autumn, we may even find delicious wild berries in the surrounding nature.

This trip ensures unrushed moments spent in Lapland’s nature.
