Vollan Gjestestue Guesthouse
Description
A cozy hotel and and traditional guest house with local food.We offer modern hotelroom in a warm and cozy atmosphere.Vollan Gjestestue opened for the first time on 4 July 1948 by founder Gudrun "Guri" Lydersen. Guri opened Gjestestua after she was able to buy the property from the Norwegian state for NOK 12,000 in 1946. This was a formidable achievement for a widow with 5 children. The building was erected by the Germans during the Second World War and was used as an officer's mess. The oldest part of the cafe, with the prominent fireplace, appears largely as it was.Over the course of 70 years, countless renovations and extensions have been carried out in order to be able to deliver even better food in even better premises. Since its inception, the business has become widely known for its production of home-made home-cooked food, which is largely based on local ingredients. Especially the meat cakes and finn beef are widely known products among a very large selection of dinner dishes. In any case, we maintain our tradition and identity both via food, interior design and somewhat informal and relaxed service. The business today consists of a total of 1,500 m2 of premises with 190 seats for cafe guests etc., 4 meeting rooms with a total of 155 seats, a restaurant with 50 seats and a total of 42 hotel rooms including apartment rooms. Our hotel rooms are modern and newly refurbished, all our hotel rooms have a private bathroom, TV, fridge, hairdryer, towel etc.As a guest at our hotel, your stay includes free access to a local fitness center close to the hotel, free parking and free coffee and tea available at the hotel reception and in the hotel corridor. We also lend bicycles, bicycle helmets, fishing rod, reflective vests and headlamps to our staying guests. We have our own freezer which our guests can borrow, to store food such as fish, berries, norwegian lefser etc. during the stay. We have a locked shed with sockets for storing and charging e.g. electric bikes, bicycles, skis or other equipment. We are a small and pleasant hotel that goes to great lengths to give our guests the best possible experience when you visit us. Feel free to contact us if you have wishes or requests that are not described here.Directly from the hotel you will find marked hiking trails, nice trails for running, cycling or just for a walk to see the northern lights. We can see the northern lights also directly from the parking lot. We recommend e.g. a trip along the river, feel free to borrow a headlamp, approx. 800 m from the hotel you will find a local gapahuk with the possibility of lighting a fire. Absolutely lovely to sit outside under the northern lights and warm yourself by the fire. And maybe grill some s'moores?Welcome to us !
