What to expect?
On this fantastic tour, you get to associate with the surrounding area from the perspective of our local's point of view. We will visit Breiðamerkurjökull, one of Vatnajökull's biggest outlet glaciers located within the Vatnajökull National Park. We will experience natural unique ice formation including an ice moulin, an ice tunnel, spectacular blue ice walls, and even the start of a small ice cave.We commence the tour from Glacier Adventures meeting point, Hali. We drive our super jeeps 30 minutes to the edge of the glacier. The glacier walk starts with an introduction to the equipment and safety rules needed to explore. You must have comfortable hiking boots, and we will provide the ice crampons and instruct you on how to attach them to the boots. There's no worry of slipping. Other security items given include helmets and ice axes.
We spend about 4 hours on the glacier, walking and exploring the magical glacier features. This is genuinely an unforgettable experience.
One of the unique aspects of our trip is that the glacial environment is in a constant state of movement and change, meaning no one tour is the same as the next. The glacier periodically forms ice caves, blue ice tunnels, moulins, and other incredible features as it melts. Our experienced guides will determine if any such ice features are safe to explore on the day of the tour and may include them in the trip as a bonus.
