What to expect?
Welcome to our exciting and adventurous bike day tour! Join us as we take you on a journey through some of our favorite biking spots, where we spend our days off exploring the great outdoors. Depending on weather and terrain conditions, we’ll select the perfect route for you. Our possible areas of exploration include our local forest Tumastaðaskógur and the hidden backyard around Mt. Þríhyrningur. No matter which route we choose, you can expect a fun-filled and thrilling day in a stunning setting.All of our tours start at Midgard Base Camp, where you can test out our bikes before setting off on your adventure. We’ll transport the bikes to the start of the tour, which is usually around 10-15 km away. You follow us in your own car or hop on a ride with us (if space is available).Tumastaðaskógur is a fun biking playground. It has gravel roads and double and single trails. We’ll even take you to the local well where old farmers used to drink and become 100 years of age. We drink from it too, not only to gain energy for the trip but also to stay forever young.On our way to the hidden backyard around Mt. Þríhyrningur, we’ll pass by Vatnsdalur – a remote farm that’s still standing and where our friend Elli, who’s over 90 years old, still lives. Then, we’ll cross the Fiská river by car and start biking along the sides of Mt. Þríhyrningur, exploring hidden caves and waterfalls along the way.FOR WHOM Fits almost everybody who is used to biking and is up for adventures, possible river crossings and tough roads. Minimal incline and no technical skills required. TOTAL RIDE 8-10 km. BIKES All bikes are specialized full suspension mountain bikes. You can also book a e-bike for 5.000 ISK extra. AVAILABILITY Every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 AM. TYPES OF PATHSGravel and double tracks. Might include trails, simple single tracks and river crossings. DEPARTURE/RETURN LOCATION Midgard Base Camp, Dufþaksbraut 14, Hvolsvöllur (see google map). DEPARTURE The tour departs from Midgard Base Camp. Please show up 15 minutes before the departure time.
