Bjórböðin SPA is located in Árskógssandur in the north of Iceland. Bjórböðin SPA is a quirky retreat home to Iceland's very first beer spa. A place where you can soak your worries away by relaxing in a bath of warm beer.

Here are some facts for you: beer yeast is used in various ways. The most common is a tablet form where the effects of the yeast are very beneficial. A beer bath is where you bathe in young beer filled with live beer yeast, hops, water, beer oil, and beer salt. The beer used in the bath is in the early stages of fermentation. At that stage, the beer has a very low pH which will tighten and soften your hair follicles and is both cleansing for your hair and your skin.

Brewers' yeast that has gone through the process of fermenting beer, is a great source of Vitamin B. This has a very revitalizing effect and is also a great source of protein, potassium, iron, zinc, and magnesium.The beer hops are rich in antioxidants and alpha acids. The oils and minerals from the plant have an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin and are also used to decrease the surface blood vessels. Hops are proven to have a soothing and relaxing effect on your muscles and the body.

In short: It has an extremely powerful, positive effect on the body and skin. This treatment specifically cleanses the skin and produces a positive effect on your health.

All the tubs at the spa also have a draft beer tap alongside, so that visitors aged 20 and over can help themselves to a cold one while they bathe.Additionally, we have an outside hot tub for bigger groups and a new restaurant with beer-related food should you wish to eat with us.

Please note: Baths temperature is 37 - 39°C and is filled up with a new blend after each guest. We recommend skipping your bathing suits for the beer baths. However, if you feel more comfortable bringing them, please do so.Age limit: there is no age limit for a beer bath as the beer water is non-drinkable, but there is a beer pump at each bath for those aged 20 and over. 16 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
