What to expect?
The most active volcano in Iceland is waiting for you.On July 10, 2023, the Litli-Hrútur volcano erupted in the Geldingadalur region, about 60 km from Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. This eruption is the third to occur in the Reykjanes peninsula in the last 3 years and fortunately it has not caused any human or material damage, in such a way that we can make the visit without danger, although always complying with the indications that we will find throughout the way both in the signaling and by civil protection personnel in the area.In this private tour we offer you to get closer to the Reykjanes peninsula departing from Reykjavík. Our guide will tell us throughout the tour the curiosities and stories about the landscape that we will find and answer all our questions about the volcano. From the parking area, we will begin our 10 km walk to the security area near the volcano to enjoy the lava flows and the small eruptions that occur. It is a long way and through terrain with slight difficulties, for this reason we consider that the physical level must be good.We will spend approximately 1-2 hours in the safe marked area, where we will be able to take photographs, consult our guide for more and more curiosities about volcanic phenomena or take a walk through the area to enjoy the different slopes of the crater.Once the time spent in the area is over, we will return by the same path to our vehicle where we will take the road back to Reykjavík and we will end our excursion.
