What to expect?
Explore the waterways near Stokkseyri on this self-guided kayaking tour, suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers alike. The tour starts in the picturesque seaside town, one of Iceland’s oldest villages, located 66 km southeast of Reykjavík.
Meet an experienced instructor who provides all necessary gear, including warm overalls, gloves, and a life vest, and teaches basic paddling and safety techniques. You’ll use a comfortable sit-on-top kayak ideal for families, couples, or individuals wanting a safe, relaxing experience.
Paddle through shallow inland canals at the edge of Longudael Lake, spotting nesting birds such as dunlin, snipe, and black-tailed godwit. On clear days, enjoy views of four of Iceland’s famous glaciers, including Eyjafjallajokull, known for its 2010 eruption.
At the end of your tour, unwind with free access to the Stokkseyri swimming pool and hot tubs, along with a complimentary coffee or hot chocolate. This 3-hour, easy kayaking excursion is available May through September for ages six and up.
