You will meet our guides at our meeting point. You will receive all the glacier gears needed to access the cave, and step on a super jeep to start the ride towards the ice cave 

Katla ice cave exploration

You will get off the super jeep and take a short hike, through the black sand desert, towards the glacier where the ice cave is located; once there, you will start the exploration of the beautiful Katla ice cave.

• What to bring: Warm clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, hiking boots, head-wear and gloves.

• This tour/activity will have a maximum of 13 travelers

• Minimum age is 8 years

• The meeting point is at the parking lot of the restaurant The Soup Company at Víkurbraut 5 in Vík. You can also look up "Tröll Expeditions Katla Ice Cave" on Google Maps for the exact location and driving directions. Please look for our guides and Jeeps marked Troll Expeditions once you arrive in the parking lot. Please be at the meeting point 20 minutes before your departure time Please note that if you arrive after the departure time, we cannot guarantee or refund your place on the tour. Driving time to Vík from Reykjavík is around 2 hours and 30 minutes in good road conditions. If you arrive early, you can stay inside the restaurant, which offers great soups, free parking, and restrooms.
