Reykjavik: 7-Day Holiday Package Ring Road Tour

Come with us on an unforgettable 7-day adventure along Iceland’s legendary Route 1, the Ring Road. Together we explore natural attractions, charming towns, peaceful fjords, and untouched wilderness, fully immersing ourselves in Iceland’s diverse and breathtaking landscapes.

Along the way, we witness cascading waterfalls, erupting geysers, dramatic canyons, volcanic landscapes, and majestic glaciers. One highlight is venturing underground into a lava cave where magma once flowed, an experience that truly leaves an impression.

The journey begins on the south coast after pick-up, starting in the geothermal town of Hveragerði. Here you taste bread baked by geothermal heat and watch the Eilífur Geyser erupt every 15–20 minutes. We continue to Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the waterfall, and the hidden Gljúfrabúi tucked inside a canyon.

Next is Skógafoss, a powerful 60-meter waterfall known for its misty rainbows. We then visit Dyrhólaey with sweeping ocean views and summer puffins, followed by the black sand beach of Reynisfjara with its basalt columns and sea stacks. The day ends in Vík with a visit to Svínafellsjökull glacier and an overnight stay in the area.

The following day starts at the famous Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, filled with icebergs drifting from Vatnajökull. Nearby Diamond Beach contrasts black sand with glittering ice, and seals are often spotted in the area.

We continue to Vestrahorn Mountain, one of Iceland’s most photographed locations, before driving along the dramatic east coast with fjords, steep mountains, and fishing villages. A stop in Djúpivogur offers insight into local history and birdlife, before ending the day in Egilsstaðir.

Optional activities include an amphibious boat tour among the icebergs or relaxation at the Vök Floating Pools on Lake Urriðavatn, surrounded by untouched nature.

Next, we travel north to an area many consider Iceland’s most beautiful. We begin at Studlagil Canyon, where turquoise water flows between striking basalt columns in a rarely visited setting.

Lake Mývatn showcases geothermal springs, lava caves, unique rock formations, and rich birdlife. Highlights include Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall, as well as Selfoss. We also visit Hverir, Grjótagjá, Dimmuborgir, the Krafla power station, and finish the day at Goðafoss.

An optional visit to the Forest Lagoon offers relaxation in warm pools surrounded by birch and pine trees, with a sauna and cold pool for contrast.

The journey continues in North Iceland, starting in Akureyri, a lively town set within a beautiful fjord. You may join an optional whale-watching tour or explore the town and its hilltop church with panoramic views.

Leaving Akureyri, we drive through the Tröllaskagi Peninsula with dramatic mountains and coastal scenery. We stop in the historic fishing village of Siglufjörður before continuing to Hofsós and ending the day at Kolugljúfur Canyon, where a powerful waterfall cuts through rugged cliffs.

Optional whale watching is available here, offering excellent chances to see whales in their natural habitat.

We then explore the Borgarfjörður area, also known as the Silver Circle. Highlights include Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring, Glanni Waterfall, and the wide Hraunfossar waterfalls flowing across a lava field into the Hvítá River.

Nearby Barnafoss tells a dramatic local story, before we venture into Viðgelmir lava cave to see colorful lava formations. We also visit Húsafell, a peaceful area surrounded by forests, lava fields, springs, and historical remains.

Our journey continues to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, often called “Iceland in Miniature,” dominated by the Snæfellsjökull volcano. We visit Kirkjufell, one of Iceland’s most photographed mountains, and explore black sand beaches like Djúpalónssandur with historic lifting stones.

We also see the dramatic basalt cliffs of Lóndrangar and, if conditions allow, stop at Ytri-Tunga to observe a local seal colony. A short drive brings us back toward Reykjavík, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences along the way.

The final day focuses on the Golden Circle, including Þingvellir National Park, where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. It is a unique feeling to stand between two continents.

We visit the Geysir area, where Strokkur erupts every 5–10 minutes, sending water high into the air, and see the powerful Gullfoss waterfall. The day also includes a stop at Kerið volcanic crater, with its vivid lake at the bottom.

The tour ends with drop-off in Reykjavík between 17:00 and 17:30. An optional visit to the Blue Lagoon is available, extending the tour into the evening for a relaxing geothermal experience.

This adventure includes six nights of cozy accommodation with breakfast. Optional activities such as glacier boat tours, whale watching, and geothermal spas add extra excitement to an already extraordinary journey through Iceland’s most iconic landscapes.

• Pickup takes place between 08:30 – 09:00 – so please be ready from 8:30 at your pick up location.

• This tour typically returns to Reykjavik on Day 7 around 5:00pm (8:00pm if Blue Lagoon Option chosen)

• If you are a single traveler then a Single Room Supplement is mandatory.

• Important: It can happen that the optional activities can be cancelled because of weather and/or safety reasons. Then we will find other activities when possible and refund the amount paid for the cancelled activities or the price difference between new activity and cancelled one
