What to expect?
Land of Sagas and Eddas is a private full-day Viking adventure through West Iceland, focusing on Viking history, mythology, and culture. This immersive experience blends hands-on activities, storytelling, and iconic historical sites connected to Iceland’s most famous Vikings.
The day begins in Reykjavík with a Viking dress-up and professional photo session, where you transform into a Norse warrior in authentic attire. A cultural Viking guide and photographer captures striking portraits to start your journey.
You then travel to Eiríksstaðir, the reconstructed farm of Erik the Red and Leif Eriksson. Inside a replica longhouse, you explore daily Viking life, craftsmanship, and the spirit of exploration that shaped Iceland’s early settlers.
Near the farm, you enjoy a Viking-inspired lunch cooked over an open flame. A Viking scholar leads a private lecture, sharing insights into Norse myths, beliefs, and everyday life during the Viking Age.
The journey continues to Hraunfossar and Barnafoss, two dramatic waterfalls deeply connected to Icelandic legends and sagas. Lava fields, rushing water, and powerful stories bring Viking folklore to life.
In Reykholt, you visit the Snorri Sturluson Museum, learning about the author of the Prose Edda and his crucial role in preserving Norse mythology and the Icelandic sagas.
The day ends back in Reykjavík with an intimate introduction to Old Icelandic books. In a reconstructed turf house or historic church, you explore original manuscripts and rare editions of the sagas in a truly authentic setting.
This exclusive experience combines history, mythology, food, landscapes, and literature into one unforgettable Viking journey.
