What to expect?
The Vatnshellir cave is one of Iceland's most accessible lava tubes and this tour is suitable for most individuals.
This lava tube was naturally formed nearly 8,000 years ago during a volcanic eruption from a neighboring crater. In this 45-minute guided excursion, you will learn about the cave's formation in an engaging and educational manner, including an overview of local geology.
Please bear in mind that despite its accessibility, a reasonable level of fitness is required to navigate the uneven lava terrain and spiral staircases within the dark cave.
