What to expect?
Silfra is on many divers' bucket list and rightly so. But not as many divers know about Silfra's darker, wilder sibling, the Davíðsgjá fissure. This local diver's favorite is a hidden gem located just a few kilometers from Silfra in Thingvellir national park. On this Silfra and Davíðsgjá Buddy tour, you will be able to dive them both in one day.
Our Silfra & Davíðsgjá Buddy Tour is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you and your buddies to experience a fascinating underwater world that is unique to Iceland and these dive sites. Plus, booking this tour will ensure you will all be together at all times.
Nowhere else on Earth will you ever find such transparent water and unbelievable colors as you do at Silfra! The glacial water that fills the Silfra fissure has been filtered through underground lava rock for centuries, a process that makes it crystal clear and with 120 meters of visibility.
Davíðsgjá is not as famous as Silfra, but it is a favourite among local divers. At Davíðsgjá you can walk straight into the water from the shore and after a nice shallow swim in water that is usually warmer than Silfra, you will enter the long, deep and narrow fissure. Davíðsgjá often has incredible underwater visibility, although this varies and is more dependent on weather than in Silfra. The top of fissure in Davíðsgjá is actually about 7 meters underwater, which allows for more contact with the water in Þingvallavatn lake. It is therefore common that trout join the divers in exploring this fissure.
This tour is only available on request and it allows you to reserve a guide just for your group of up to 3 people. This will give you a more personalised experience and ensure you and your friends will not be split up in different groups with different guides.
