What to expect?
Experience the essence of Iceland’s most iconic trek on this empowering 4-day women’s-only adventure. Hike from the colorful geothermal landscapes of Landmannalaugar to the lush Þórsmörk Valley, traversing rhyolite mountains, black sand deserts, steaming hot springs, and glacial rivers. Each night, unwind under the midnight sun in comfortable expedition tents, sharing stories and laughter with a group of like-minded women.
Day 1 – Reykjavík → Landmannalaugar
Scenic drive into the Highlands, passing the Hekla volcano. Warm-up hike through the Laugahraun lava field, Grænagil gorge, and Bláhnjúkur volcano before relaxing in a natural hot spring.
Overnight: Camp at Landmannalaugar
Distance: 8 km | Walking time: 4–5 hrs
Day 2 – Landmannalaugar → Álftavatn
Cross colorful rhyolite mountains and geothermal valleys toward the obsidian desert of Hrafntinnusker, then descend into the steaming gullies of Jökultungur before reaching the tranquil Álftavatn Lake.
Overnight: Camp near Álftavatn
Distance: 24 km | Walking time: 8–9 hrs
Day 3 – Álftavatn → Emstrur
Hike across black sand plains framed by glaciers, cross clear glacial rivers, and pass the striking cone of Stórasúla before reaching the green oasis of Emstrur.
Overnight: Camp at Emstrur
Distance: 15 km | Walking time: 6–7 hrs
Day 4 – Emstrur → Þórsmörk → Reykjavík
Descend through lush valleys carved by glaciers, cross the final rivers, and enter the birch-filled Þórsmörk Valley—a stunning finale to your highland adventure. Celebrate your journey before returning to Reykjavík.
