What to expect?
Combine a fantastic Dog Sledding adventure with an expertly guided tour direct from downtown Tromsø to the magical new winter wonderland of Tromso Ice Domes. Visit Reindeer and experience the real Arctic!A comfortable coach will depart from outside Magic Ice Bar daily for the scenic 90-minute drive to this evocative and fairy tale venue in the Arctic wilderness in Tamokdalen.
Dog sledding is a tradition of travel in the Arctic. Our dog sledding consists of a musher, a sled, and our energetic Alaskan huskies. It´s an adventurous activity for your Arctic holiday in Tromsø. From our kennel, we slide into the snow-covered valley of Tamokdalen, between trees and over hills.
You don´t need any experience because our guides will give you all the equipment you need, teach you how to use the sled, and then venture into the wild. You will drive in pairs and rotate halfway along the track.
TROMSØ ICE DOMES
Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, Tromso Ice Domes are built every year as the Polar Night approaches. The Ice Domes are around -5C inside, with an average temperature of -10 to -15C outside.
The snow and ice art reflects the unique bond between man and nature in a breathtaking manner. The ice bar, our ice cinema, the ice bedrooms and the ice restaurant have themes ranging from local Sami culture to the Northern Lights conveyed through beautiful coloured lighting and wonderful ice sculptures.
At the Ice Domes, you will join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of an ice hotel and the impact the snow has on the survival of our arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask questions to the experienced guide. A non-alcoholic ice shot at the stunning ice bar is complimentary. You will be able to purchase other drinks, which will be served in the ice restaurant or ice bar.
During this combination tour, we also provide you with a chance to visit our small herd of reindeer located at the Ice Domes for reindeer feeding. This is included free of charge in your tour.
Additional: Lunch is included in this activity.
Please note: Because of the activity level, we do not recommend dog sledding for people with physical disabilities, back problems, pelvic problems or for pregnant women past five months. Our dog yard is located 15 minutes' drive further away from the Ice Domes as we wish to give you this experience in untouched nature.
