Over 7 days and 6 nights, discover Norway's sceneries from Oslo to Bergen, Bergen to Stavanger, Stavanger to Kristiansand, and then back to Oslo. Your adventure begins with the iconic Norway in a Nutshell® day tour, continues with a relaxing fjord cruise, and concludes with a picturesque train ride.
Stay in comfortable 4-star hotels, explore charming towns, and enjoy stunning fjord views throughout the itinerary. Travel comfortably between destinations by train and ship, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable trip from start to finish. Transfers, transportation, and accommodation – all are included. Your hotels will be conveniently located nearby the departure and arrival points in each destination.
Simply arrive in Oslo on your selected date and follow the program. Book your return flight for an afternoon departure 7 days after. This is a self-guided holiday program, suitable for anyone of normal health.
Important:
Please book your flights to arrive in Oslo anytime on the arrival date, but plan to depart from Oslo airport earliest 4.00pm / 16.00 on your departure date. Alternatively stay the last night in Oslo.
Your itinerary will look as follows:
Day 1: Arrive in Oslo
Self-transfer to your hotel via the airport express train, or if you arrive by land transfer, stroll over to your hotel, conveniently located near Oslo central station.
Included in your itinerary is a comfortable 4-star hotel such as Radisson Oslo Plaza, Thon Hotel Opera or similar, including breakfast. The hotel will be located near to Oslo Central Station. In the evening, explore Oslo’s vibrant city center, visit the Oslo Opera House, and enjoy a leisurely dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2: Explore Norway in a Nutshell® with Scenic train rides and a Fjord cruise
Start your day with a scenic train ride from Oslo to Flåm via the Bergen Railway and Flåmsbana scenic train. Depart in the morning and arrive in the afternoon. This journey offers stunning views of mountains, fjords, and waterfalls.
After some time in Flåm, embark on a 2hr Nærøyfjord cruise with an electric ship. Experience the breathtaking beauty of Norway’s longest and deepest fjord. This cruise takes you to Gudvangen port, where your premium coach awaits and takes you through lush valleys and mountain passes until you reach the town of Voss.
From Voss, catch the next train to Bergen. Upon arrival in Bergen, check-in to your 4-star hotel, for example Comfort Hotel Bergen or Scandic Ørnen Bergen or similar, both 4-star hotels near Bergen Brygge, including breakfast.
This full day is organized as one coherent trip, on one ticket, with a mobility guarantee. We can also organize luggage transfer if you want to save the hassle of carrying your bags this day. Contact us to arrange that.
Day 3: Discover Bergen
Spend the morning exploring Bergen with a ride on the Mt. Fløien Funicular, which offers panoramic views of the city and surrounding fjords. Tickets are included. The funicular ride takes you up to one of the seven mountaintops that surround the picturesque city of Bergen. Here, you may enjoy the views or do a self-guided hike on the trails that take you around the mountain plateau.
In the afternoon, stroll through the historic Bryggen Wharf, visit the Fish Market, and explore local shops and cafes. The evening is perfect for savoring a seafood dinner at one of Bergen’s renowned restaurants. Enjoy the charm and beauty of this coastal city.
Day 4: Cruise the Atlantic Ocean from Bergen to Stavanger
After a leisurely breakfast and some last-minute sightseeing in Bergen, embark on an Atlantic Ocean cruise to Stavanger. The cruise typically departs around 14:00 hrs and arrives in the early evening, offering great coastal scenery. Included in your price is lounge access for a comfortable journey with panoramic views from atop the ship.
From Stavanger cruise terminal, enjoy private transfer to your hotel by comfortable minibus. Check-in to your 4-star hotel located right in the heart of Stavanger, Thon Hotel Maritime or similar, including breakfast. Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the next day’s adventure.
Day 5: Cruise the Lysefjord to Pulpit Rock Preikestolen
Start your adventure from downtown Stavanger aboard the modern electric boat, MS Rygerelektra. This year-round Lysefjord cruise, lasting 3-3.5 hours, promises fun and scenic vistas.
Explore Fantahålå (Vagabond’s Cave), where “vagrants” once hid from the sheriff. Soon after, marvel at the Pulpit Rock, known among locals as Preikestolen, the iconic cliff Tom Cruise scaled in Mission Impossible 6. The journey continues to the majestic Hengjanefossen waterfall, where the crew brings the bow close enough for you to feel the refreshing spray!
The boat features multiple sun decks, a spacious cabin with comfortable leather seats, panoramic windows, and a kiosk offering fresh baked goods, snacks, and hot/cold drinks. Note that boat changes may occur. Each season offers its unique charm, making this cruise a delightful experience any time of the year.
Day 6: Discover the Coastal Gem of Kristiansand
In the morning, take the train from Stavanger to Kristiansand, departing around 10.00 hrs and arriving around 13.30 hrs. Spend the afternoon exploring Kristiansand’s charming city center, visiting the Kristiansand Cathedral, and relaxing at Bystranda beach.
The city’s coastal charm and friendly atmosphere make it a delightful destination. Check-in at your hotel, for example Radisson Blu Caledonien Hotel, a 4-star hotel in Kristiansand, including breakfast. Enjoy a peaceful evening in this picturesque coastal town. Kristiansand is known among Norwegians as the summer city, with multiple beaches and a rich archipelago right on its doorstep.
Day 7: Return to Oslo by Train
On this final day, take the train from Kristiansand to Oslo, departing early morning and arriving at the airport no later than 13.30 hrs. Book your return flight from Oslo to depart in the early evening, anytime after 16.00 hrs. Please note, on this day you will not be able to fly any earlier than 16.00 hrs.
Depending on your flight time, you may have a chance for some last-minute shopping or sightseeing in Oslo before your departure. Inform us if you prefer to stay some time in Oslo before heading to the airport, or if you would like to add one more night in Oslo before heading home the morning after
