Your journey begins with a long-distance coach from Oslo to Tyin in the Jotunheimen. From there, board a unique snowcoach and ride into the mountain ridge. These nostalgic vehicles, which have been in service for over 60 years, offer an unforgettable experience as they connect this remote village to the rest of the world.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Snowcoach Tour in Jotunheimen

Meeting Point and Time:
Meet us at Tyin (parking available, fee applies) at 13:30 / 1.30 pm.

Snowcoach Journey:
Our daily snowcoach service runs on a fixed schedule between Tyin (road 53) and the remote village of Eidsbugarden. Your luggage will be securely placed on top of the snowcoach, while you enjoy a comfortable ride inside, accommodating up to 12 passengers. The 45-minute journey to Eidsbugarden offers a unique experience, transporting you through a winter wonderland in these historic vehicles.

Lunch at Fondsbu DNT:
Upon arrival in Eidsbugarden, check in at the traditional Fondsbu DNT, one of the oldest cabins of the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT), renowned for its warm atmosphere, friendly hosts, and stunning location. Enjoy a delicious lunch here before setting out to explore the area.

Snowshoeing Adventure:
Our guides will provide you with snowshoes and poles, which are easy and fun to use after a brief introduction. You’ll also receive a map and descriptions of possible snowshoe hikes around Eidsbugarden, allowing you to explore the beautiful surroundings at your own pace.

Accommodation and Dinner:
Spend the night at the cosy Fondsbu DNT, where you’ll be treated to a delectable 3-course dinner. Relax in the bar, library, or by the fireplace after a day of outdoor activities. Enjoy your stay in this serene and remote part of Jotunheimen.

Day 2: Snowshoeing or Peaceful Winter

After a restful night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast, you have the option to embark on another snowshoe hike or simply savor the tranquil winter atmosphere at Eidsbugarden.

Snowcoach

At 11:45 AM, our snowcoaches will drive you back to Tyin, with an expected arrival time of 12:30 PM.

It is easy to arrive by bus and to enjoy the scenic journey from the bustle of the cities and touristic hotspots to the countryside roads until you reach Norways highest mountain range, Jotunheimen. Coaches offer adjustable seats, free Wi-Fi, outlets with USB charging ports and toilet facilities on board.
