Sandnessjøen: 4-Day Guided Kayaking Adventure

Discover new adventure places in Helgeland, whether heading out to open sea or staying sheltered inland. Along the way, you may encounter seals, porpoises, sea eagles and seabirds, crystal-clear waters, cold-water corals, magical jellyfish, and endless white sand beaches.

This four-day experience combines guided kayaking with boat safaris into the Husvær archipelago, along with hotel stays in unique coastal surroundings. Together with hosts, tour leaders, and local guides, you explore the authentic Helgeland at a relaxed and immersive pace.

Sea kayaking is one of the best ways to experience Helgeland’s island landscape and its rich flora and fauna. We paddle quietly through pristine nature, with experienced guides ensuring safety and providing technique tips when needed.

The tour is ideal for those who have started kayaking and want to expand their skills, confidence, and horizons. All routes and daily plans are adapted to the group, with guides listening to what you want from the journey.

The adventure begins in Sandnessjøen and continues south to Skogsholmen, part of the UNESCO-listed Vega archipelago. Here you enjoy lunch and a guided visit to the historic Skogsholmen Guesthouse, once a lively island community and school.

Havkanten Guesthouse in Husvær serves as basecamp during the stay, offering comfortable accommodation, dinners, and relaxing evenings with hot tubs by the sea. Meals feature local ingredients, often inspired by what the sea and day have provided.

Over the following days, we paddle between islands such as Husvær, Brasøy, and Sandvær, discovering rich birdlife, fishing history, and spectacular coastal scenery. Beach landings, warm outdoor lunches, storytelling, and time in nature create memorable moments throughout the journey.

The final day is unhurried, with time for optional paddling or quiet reflection before the return journey to Sandnessjøen. You leave Helgeland with new experiences, shared stories, and a deeper connection to the sea and islands.
