Svolvær: Northern Lights Photo Tour of the Lofoten Islands

This is a unique Northern Lights photography tour led by a professional photographer and guide for those who want to capture its beauty first-hand. You won’t just be a simple spectator but an active part of the hunt. The team wants you to enjoy the magic of the Northern lights from different perspectives. Therefore, you will be driven along the Atlantic coast and the Vestfjord side, searching for new spots and hidden corners all the time. The team's professional photographer will teach you how to take pictures, give you all the essential basic tips, and teach you how to set up your camera. You will learn how to maximize your skills for taking stunning pictures.

Suppose you don’t have the tripod, no need to stress. Let the team know when booking and they can prearrange one for you. All the pictures taken by the professional team will be sent the day after without any additional cost.

Tour Itinerary

On this tour, you will typically visit Gimsøy island, in the north of the archipelago. Gimsøy island is a small spot facing the Atlantic Ocean. The Northern Lights from the Atlantic are unique and amazingly powerful.

You will explore Hov, the wide beach of Gimsøya, and get the opportunity to take amazing pictures of the queen of the Arctic: the Aurora Borealis. The photographer will give you all the basic photo instructions and information you need, and if you are not a photo lover, he will take pictures for you and the Northern Lights in the background. If wind permitting, the guide will light the fire to keep you warm and enjoy.

You will continue to the southern side, stopping at Gimsøy bridge and then onwards to Lyngvær. This stop is another great spot to admire the dancing lights surrounded by a spectacular landscape. One of the final stops is Kabelvågmarka, where if weather conditions permit, you will walk on an icy lake and the professional photo guide will continue taking pictures of the aurora in a real Arctic landscape.

You will be returned to your accommodation usually after midnight. This adventure is organized in small groups with a maximum of 8 participants. This allows the chance to offer maximum flexibility and the use of the minivan enables the team to provide maximum comfort.

Please keep in mind that the itinerary might change due to the weather conditions and solar activity. As the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and require specific weather conditions, it may not be guaranteed to see the lights every tour. But the professional team will try their best to accommodate.
