What to expect?
On day 1, sail away from Tromsø into the Arctic evening, far from city lights, where the night sky becomes your private aurora stage. The adventure begins in the heart of Tromsø, where the MV Quest is ready to welcome you on board. After stepping onto the vessel, you settle into your private ocean-view cabin and meet the expedition team who will be with you throughout the journey.
As the ship leaves the harbour, Tromsø slowly slips into the distance. The lights of the city fade behind you, and the Arctic evening opens up around the vessel. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and relaxed. A three-course dinner is served on board, while the Panorama Lounge offers a cosy place to unwind and watch the darkness gather outside.
Your guide introduces you to the stories, science, and mystery of the Northern Lights, preparing you for what may appear above. Then it is time to step outside. Wrapped in the silence of the Arctic night, you can stand on deck and look up into the open sky, waiting for the Aurora to reveal itself above the fjords. And if the lights begin to dance while you are asleep, we will wake you, so you do not miss one of nature’s most unforgettable displays.
On day 2, wake with the whales in a quiet Arctic fjord, long before any other boats arrive. Morning arrives in a place most day tours cannot reach. You wake in the stillness of a remote Arctic fjord, already surrounded by the waters where whales gather.
As the day begins, keep watch from the breakfast table, your cabin window, or the open decks. With luck, orcas or humpback whales may pass close by as the vessel rests in their winter feeding grounds. Because you have spent the night at sea, there is more time to observe, move between viewing levels, and take in the moment from every angle.
After a morning among whales and fjords, lunch is served on board as you return to the warmth of the vessel. Your guide then shares more about the whales and dolphins of the region, bringing new meaning to what you have just experienced.
Throughout the voyage, the expedition team helps capture the journey on camera, with photos shared digitally within 48 hours. As the ship makes its way back to Tromsø, there is time to slow down, share the highlights, and let the past 24 hours settle into memory before stepping ashore.
