As we navigate the months with dark evenings from September to April, our primary goal is to chase clear skies, maximizing our chances of witnessing the enchanting Northern Lights. The excursion normally spans 5-6 hours and takes us in various directions away from the city lights, allowing us to explore the most promising vantage points during the evening.
Our commitment to small groups and compact transportation allows the exploration of areas inaccessible to larger buses, ensuring an intimate experience. This approach provides time for conversations, photography sessions, basic Northern Lights photography lessons, and building connections. Enjoy pick-up and drop-off within Tromsø, with the tour duration and start time tailored to your preferences.
Rest assured, our guides are seasoned professionals with an education in guiding and familiar with the local terrain and cultural sights. Drawing on years of exploring northern Norway, we promise an unparalleled adventure.
The weather often favors clear skies along the coast or inland, where temperatures drop compared to the city. Some days require minimal travel for extended outdoor enjoyment, while others involve a strategic "hunt" for the lights. Our farthest option reaches the Finnish border, a scenic 2-3 hour drive. Sightings are likely, but this natural phenomenon is unpredictable, and there are no guarantees. Each excursion is a unique and thrilling experience.
We make multiple stops throughout the evening to witness the lights' spectacle – sometimes directly above or behind us. Weather permitting, enjoy a longer stop with a bonfire, a pre-prepared meal, and a hot beverage. A Barents Sea dip on milder nights is an option for the adventurous – bring a towel and earn your bravery diploma.
Join us for an unforgettable journey, where the northern lights' beauty merges with local hospitality. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or a first-time viewer, our private adventure promises a magical experience.

Itinerary
Pickup
Pickup at your desired location in the Tromsø area at your desired time. By choosing a start time after 8 pm/20:00 the trip will be shortened.
Tromsø & Northern Lights Safari
The first thing we do is to go through the evening and throw in some personal wishes and ideas. The tour starts in Tromsø, one of the best places to see the northern lights, situated directly under the northern lights oval.
The main part of the tour will be spent outside Tromsø. Our favorite spots are all located by the sea, a sea that never freezes in the north of Norway due to the Golf current. The seawater is warmer than the air most of the winter, and there are people crazy enough to go for a swim. If the weather is cloudy along the coast, we head for the inland and the mountains.
The big advantage in Tromsø is that we have plenty of locations to choose from, and roads leading in all directions. We will go to wherever is safest and most likely for guests to see the Northern Lights – sometimes that is 30 min outside the city, and on other days all the way to the border with Finland.
Drop off
Drop off at your desired location in the Tromsø area. We should be back sometime between 12 am (00:00) and 2am (02:00).
