Join us for an authentic experience at our wilderness center, Camp Tamok. Discover Sami culture at our wilderness center where you can connect with nature and the Sami people. You will start your adventure from Tromsø, where a cozy bus will take you through the stunning scenery of snow-capped mountains and frozen lakes. The journey will last about 90 minutes, but you will be mesmerized by the views along the way.
When you reach Camp Tamok, we will equip you with warm winter clothes and everything you need for this amazing experience. You will then board a minibus for a short ride to meet our lovely reindeer herd. They are eager to take you on a sleigh ride across the white fields, where you will feel the peace and harmony of the Arctic. The reindeer have been part of the Sami culture for centuries, and they will show you their gentle and friendly nature.
The Sami are the indigenous people of Norway, and they will welcome you into their world. You will learn how to throw a lasso, how to feed the reindeer, and how to communicate with them. You will also listen to their stories and traditions, and ask them any questions you might have about their life and history. There are 5 – 6 reindeer at the camp, and they will love to get to know you.
After this unforgettable encounter, you will return to Camp Tamok, where a delicious hot meal will be waiting for you. You will enjoy it around an open fire in a traditional reindeer herder’s tent, feeling the warmth and coziness of the camp. You will also have some time to relax and chat with your fellow travelers, before boarding the bus back to Tromsø. Bring back with you memories and photos of a lifetime.
