What to expect?
Our adventure begins as we leave from our Tromsø meeting point in a comfortable Mercedes Sprinter minibus. Meet your friendly hosts, who will accompany you throughout the day. Our first stop takes us to Northern Norway’s most breathtaking fjord.
Discover Kvaløya: Fjords, Peaks, and Coastal Charm
Facing West, the view of rugged, snow-capped peaks merging into the sea remains eternally captivating. As we continue our drive on Kvaløya island, a remote valley leads us to the coast, where charming fishing huts dot the shoreline.
Encounter Arctic Wildlife on “Whale Island”
Keep your eyes peeled for reindeer along the way. Kvaløya hosts two large reindeer herds that roam freely during the summer. Your guide will share fascinating insights into Sami culture as we journey. But the wildlife spectacle doesn’t end there. Seals, moose, harbor porpoises, and white-tailed eagles also grace the island. Kvaløya, aptly known as “Whale Island” in Northern Sami (Sállir), is an excellent spot for whale watching. Humpback Whales are particularly active during Polar Night and from November to January.
Tranquil Moments on Sommarøy’s Remote Beach
At Sommarøy, we’ll take you to a secluded beach where you can soak in the stunning Arctic views while sipping a comforting hot chocolate. Afterward, indulge in a delicious local lunch with postcard-worthy vistas over the surrounding islands. Sommarøy’s Summer Islands offer a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.

What to bring
In winter it is important to dress warmly. Wearing multiple layers is essential. We recommend wool base layers, wool socks, a winter coat, warm boots, gloves or mittens and a hat. In icy conditions, the use of shoe spikes is also recommended.
