Tromsø: 8-Day Holiday Package Arctic Self-Drive Route to Senja

This eight‑day self‑drive journey explores Arctic landscapes between Tromsø, the Lyngen region, and the island of Senja. The trip begins in Tromsø where you collect your rental car and stay for two nights. During your stay you drive to Sommarøy, a small coastal community known for its white sand beaches and island scenery.

From Tromsø the route continues east to Lyngseidet along the Lyngen Alps before heading south to Bardufoss. The journey then turns west toward Senja, Norway’s second‑largest island.

You spend two nights in the Senja region where you join a wildlife fjord safari and explore the surrounding coastal roads by e‑bike.

The final driving day returns to Tromsø where the journey ends with the return of your rental car at the airport.

Day 1: Arrive in Tromsø and Pick Up Your Car
Arrive at Tromsø Airport and collect your rental car. Drive to your centrally located accommodation and check in for a two-night stay. Spend the rest of the day exploring the harbour area and city centre.

Day 2: Drive to Sommarøy
Take a scenic drive from Tromsø to the island community of Sommarøy. The route follows fjords, bridges, and coastal landscapes with several viewpoints along the way. Return to Tromsø for the night.

Day 3: Drive from Tromsø to Lyngseidet
Leave Tromsø and travel east toward Lyngseidet along the Lyngen Alps. Check in to your accommodation for one night and enjoy time at leisure in the fjord village.

Day 4: Drive from Lyngseidet to Bardufoss
Continue your journey inland toward Bardufoss. The route travels through mountain valleys and northern forests before arriving in Bardufoss for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Drive from Bardufoss to Senja
Drive west toward the island of Senja. After arrival, check in to your accommodation for a two-night stay located in Gryllefjord, Steinfjord, Mefjord, or a nearby village.

Day 6: Join a Senja Wildlife Safari and Explore by E-Bike
Join a wildlife fjord safari through the archipelago around Senja. After the boat tour enjoy a hot drink at the harbour restaurant. Later explore the surrounding coastal landscapes with a half day e bike rental.

Day 7: Drive from Senja to Tromsø
Drive back to Tromsø across the northern coastal region. Check in to your hotel for your final night and spend the evening exploring the city.

Day 8: Depart from Tromsø
Drive to Tromsø Airport and return your rental car before departure.
