Tromsø: Tromso Ice Domes, Snow Carving & Reindeer

Your adventure begins with a picturesque 1.5-hour bus ride from Tromsø to the remote and stunning Tamok Valley. Upon arrival at the camp, you’ll have the opportunity to freshen up and gear up in the warm winter clothes and boots we provide, ensuring your comfort throughout your stay. Our friendly camp host will guide you through the day’s exciting program. You’ll be divided into smaller groups to participate in a variety of engaging experiences, some guided and others for you to explore independently.

Campfire Crafting

Learn essential survival skills from our knowledgeable guide as you master the art of crafting a campfire. Gather around the warmth and light of the fire, immersing yourself in captivating stories about the local lifestyle and rich Arctic culture. Enjoy grilling your own sausages while we serve a bowl of soup and hot berry juice to keep you warm and cozy outdoors.

Snow Adventures

Get active by navigating through snow-covered terrain on tandem skis. Race against other teams for an extra dose of excitement! Discover the history and evolution of skis, from traditional transportation to modern recreational and competitive uses.

Tromsø Ice Domes Snow Park

Explore the enchanting snow and ice sculptures inside the Snow Park. Wander through a mesmerizing display of snow and ice art, a snow maze, and our two domes. Marvel at the stunning art illuminated by natural light in the pristine Arctic landscape.

Encounters with Arctic Wildlife

Meet the iconic animals of Northern Norway. Cuddle and take photos with our friendly huskies and visit the reindeer near the Sculpture Park.

Snow Carving Activity

Inspired by professional snow artists, you’ll have the unique opportunity to create your own snow sculpture. With guidance from an experienced instructor and divided into small groups, you’ll use carving tools to shape your masterpiece from a large block of compressed snow.

Return to Tromsø

After a fulfilling day outdoors, we’ll ensure your safe return to Tromsø with a comfortable 1.5-hour bus journey back.

Important Information

Please note that this activity takes place outdoors, exposing you to the elements of the Arctic winter. It is crucial to dress warmly and appropriately for the weather conditions to ensure your comfort. We provide warm thermal suits and boots, but dressing in layers and wearing proper winter garments is essential to fully enjoy this Arctic experience.

Meeting Time and Place:

07:45am at Tromsø Havn Prostneset (inside the main entrance hall), Samuel Arnesens gate 5, Tromsø

Itinerary:  

08:00 – 09:30 Bus transfer from Tromsø to Camp Tamok 

09:30 – 10:15 Welcome briefing, toilet break and clothing 

10:15 – 13:00 Wilderness Experience and Visit to Tromsø Ice Domes Snow Park incl. food  

13:00 – 14:30 Snow carving  

14:30 – 16:00 Bus transfer from Camp Tamok to Tromsø
