Oslo to Bergen: 4-Day Fjord and Scenic Rail Experience

This four-day itinerary combines Norway’s two most iconic cities with one of the world’s most scenic travel routes.

Starting in Oslo, you will have time to explore the Norwegian capital before embarking on an unforgettable journey to Bergen. The route takes you across the Hardangervidda mountain plateau on the Bergen Railway, before connecting to the Flåm Railway, one of the steepest and most scenic train rides in the world.

From Flåm, you continue by boat through the Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord, offering breathtaking views of steep cliffs, waterfalls and quiet villages.

In Bergen, you will experience another highlight with a fjord cruise to Mostraumen, where narrow fjords and powerful waterfalls create a dramatic natural setting.

With a combination of seamless transport, fjord experiences and free time, this itinerary offers a compact yet immersive introduction to Norway’s landscapes and cities.

Day 1: Arrival in Oslo
Arrive in Oslo and meet your private transfer to your centrally located hotel. Check in for a one-night stay. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Explore Karl Johans gate, visit the Oslo Opera House, or enjoy the lively waterfront area at Aker Brygge.

Day 2: Scenic Journey from Oslo to Bergen via Flåm
Make your way to Oslo Central Station and begin one of Norway’s most iconic journeys. Travel by train from Oslo to Myrdal on the Bergen Railway, followed by the famous Flåm Railway descending through dramatic landscapes to the fjord village of Flåm. From here, continue by boat on a spectacular fjord cruise through the Sognefjord to Bergen. Your luggage is transferred separately from Oslo to Bergen for a seamless experience. Upon arrival in Bergen, make your way to your hotel and check in for a two-night stay. Spend the evening at leisure exploring the charming harbour area and Bryggen Wharf.

Day 3: Mostraumen Fjord & Waterfall Cruise
Head to the harbour and board a scenic fjord cruise to Mostraumen. Cruise through narrow fjords, past steep mountains and cascading waterfalls, with commentary provided via audio guide. After the cruise, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Wander through Bergen’s historic streets, take the Fløibanen funicular for panoramic views, or enjoy local seafood at the harbour.

Day 4: Departure from Bergen
After breakfast, meet your private transfer to Bergen Airport for your departure.
