Overview
The farm has been operated for close to 2000 years, and is one of the oldest mountain farms along the UNESCO World Heritage fjord, the Geirangerfjord. Nestled on top of a mountain cliff, this farm has one of the best views Norway has to offer.
What's included?
Pick-up/drop-off from central Hellesylt
Knowledgeable, English-speaking guide
Meeting with the Bonsaksens family
A taste of award-winning cheeses and drinks
Meeting with sheep, sheepdogs and llamas
What to expect?
You will not only meet the Bonsaksen at this visit. They have invited their good friends, neighbours and colleagues from Skarbø Farm to give you a taste of Norway. With their award winning cheeses (world cheese awards), apple juice and ciders, you will get a taste of this region of Norway, where the small scale producers such as Skarbø really have set the quality standard.
At the farm there will be a meet and greet with the farm's animals. Although the sheep is most likely grassing up in the steep mountains, there will still be animals to see. The sheepdogs are friendly and loves to be cuddled, and the llamas are a curious fan-favorite. Thirteen of them, each with their own personality. If you want a close encounter, grab a piece of bread and they might want to eat out of your hand.
This is also a perfect tour to bring your children. They will have their special menu, including soft drinks and cookies, as well as cheese. A story telling session with a local fairytail, and last but not least a treasurehunt, with actual prizes.
A bus will take you to and from the farm. The meeting point is really close to the cruise port.
