What to expect?
This six‑day journey explores Norway’s western fjords, coastal towns, and dramatic mountain landscapes. Your trip begins in Bergen, a historic harbour city surrounded by mountains and sea. After arrival, explore Bryggen’s colourful wooden buildings, narrow alleyways, and the lively waterfront that once formed the centre of the Hanseatic trading network.
On Day 2 you sail into the fjords surrounding the city. The Mostraumen cruise travels through the Osterfjord and into narrow straits where waterfalls crash down steep rock walls and the mountains rise sharply from the water.
Day 3 focuses on Bergen itself. Walk through the city’s historic districts with a local guide and learn about its maritime past. Later, ride the Fløibanen funicular to Mount Fløyen for panoramic views across the fjords and islands. In the evening you board an overnight coastal voyage north along Norway’s rugged shoreline.
The journey continues in Ålesund, one of Norway’s most distinctive coastal towns. Rebuilt in Art Nouveau style after a great fire in 1904, the town is known for its colourful architecture and narrow canals. Paddle through Brosundet on a guided kayak tour for a unique perspective of the harbour.
The highlight of the trip comes on Day 5 with a fjord cruise to Geiranger. Surrounded by towering cliffs and waterfalls such as the Seven Sisters, the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord is one of Norway’s most iconic landscapes.
The journey ends in Ålesund after six days of fjords, coastal sailing, kayaking, and Nordic city life.
Day 1: Arrive in Bergen
Arrive in Bergen, Norway’s historic gateway to the fjords. Make your way to your centrally located 4-star hotel and settle in for a two night stay. Spend the rest of the day exploring Bryggen’s wooden trading houses, the fish market, and the lively harbour area.
Day 2: Cruise the Mostraumen Fjord & Waterfalls
Sail deep into the Osterfjord on the Mostraumen fjord cruise. Pass narrow straits surrounded by steep mountains and powerful waterfalls that plunge directly into the fjord. The captain navigates the dramatic landscape while the audio guide shares insight into the region’s nature and history.
Day 3: Walk Bergen, Ride Mount Fløyen & Sail the Coast
Start the day with a guided walk through Bergen’s past and present. Explore the city’s historic harbour, narrow alleyways, and maritime heritage with a local guide. Later, ride the Fløibanen funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen for panoramic views across the city, fjords, and surrounding mountains.
In the evening, board an overnight coastal cruise from Bergen to Ålesund. Relax in your sleeper cabin and enjoy dinner on board as the ship travels north along Norway’s rugged coastline.
