What to expect?
Start your journey at the P2 parking lot in Skjeggedal where you’ll meet your guide and get your gear. We’ll begin by walking for about an hour along a lake on a gravel road. Then, we’ll take a short, steep path to the start of the Via Ferrata. Here, we’ll take a break and go over safety instructions.
Once everyone is ready, we’ll start the climb. The higher we go, the better the views! You’ll see the blue lake “Ringedalsvatnet” and the Folgefonna Glacier across the fjord. As we climb the Via Ferrata, your guide will give you tips on how to climb safely and efficiently. After climbing 200m, we’ll reach the top.
From here, you’ll see the steep canyon and Trolltunga in the distance. We’ll have lunch at this hidden spot before hiking the last 3km to reach “the Troll’s tongue”. Once we arrive, you’ll be amazed by the view! Other hikers might be surprised to see you with a helmet on your backpack. After taking some photos, we’ll rest a bit before heading back. We’ll follow the main trail back (or you can choose to downclimb the Via Ferrata), and you’ll appreciate the simplicity of just walking after our earlier adventures.

What to bring
Don’t forget to bring a lot of food, such as sandwiches, nuts, chocolate, and bananas. You’ll also need 2 litres of water, but don’t worry, we can fill up water at some spots along the trail. Hiking boots are essential, as is a windproof shell jacket and a mid layer. A cap or hat will protect you from the sun, and don’t forget your sunglasses and sunscreen. A backpack with approximately 35 litres capacity will be needed to carry your items. If you’re planning on doing Via Ferrata, gloves with good grip are recommended.
In case of rain and low temperatures, you should also consider bringing a woolen base layer. Remember not to use cotton, as it can be freezing cold when it’s wet. A warm mid layer, wind- and waterproof shell pants, and spare socks will keep you dry and warm. Lastly, a beanie or headband and gloves will protect your head and hands from the cold.
Make sure you have all these items before you set off on your journey. Stay safe!
