What to expect?
Join us on a private tour through Fjord Norway’s glacier-carved mountains. Enjoy a tranquil 2.5-hour hike to Månafossen, the highest waterfall in southwestern Norway, and visit some of the region’s unique cultural landmarks.
Månafossen waterfall, fed by the Mån river, plunges 92 meters into the canyon below. The force of the waterfall, flanked by steep granite walls, creates a dazzling display of mist and rainbows. Due to its inaccessibility by public transportation, Månafossen remains relatively unknown, even among locals, making it a true hidden gem for tourists.
Your professional guide will meet you at the time and location you selected when booking. During the hour-long drive into the mountains, your guide will navigate through a variety of landscapes, including pastures, meadows, green valleys, and fjords. Once at the trailhead, you’ll be briefed before starting your hike. The first leg of the hike to the waterfall takes approximately 45 minutes (one-way) and is steep at times. Stairs and locally-sourced stone pave the way, making the hike less difficult. Your guide will maintain a relaxed pace up the trail, giving you ample time to enjoy the beauty of Månafossen.
After a rest, if time allows, you’ll continue hiking upstream to visit the green valley of Fidjadal, which takes approximately 45 minutes (one-way). There, you’ll take another short break at the deserted mountain farm of Mån, inhabited until 1915. It’s a great place to enjoy a warm drink and a snack while taking in the serenity of the Norwegian wilderness. After the break, your guide will lead you back down to the trailhead and back to Stavanger.
