What to expect?
The Lucky Ranch is a great place to spot the dazzling Northern Lights, far away from the city lights and crowds.The Northern Lights can be seen from late August to the end of March. This tour is a great night program for all wanting to enjoy the Lappish night with the local guides.
On this magnificent Northern Lights tour, you will walk to the beautiful frozen lake Pyhäjärvi to enjoy the northern sky and hopefully witness the magical lights as they dance across the sky.
The local guide will tell you the stories about the Northern Lights while you are warm and cosy by the open fire in a wooden hut. During the tour, you will also get to meet the fantastic animals of the ranch.
Please bring:
- Warm winter clothing and suitable shoes
- Merino wool underlayer, fleece/wool mid-layer
- Woollen socks, warm hat, warm gloves and a scarf/neckwarmer
(If you need something, please ask the team in advance. They may have some spare winter clothes to borrow).
This activity starts from the Lucky Ranch, located near the Pyhä-Luosto National park at Lake Pyhäjärvi. It is only 10 minutes drive from the year-round activity resort and ski resort Pyhätunturi.
The nearest airport is in Rovaniemi, approximately a 1.5 – 2 hour drive to Pyhätunturi. The nearest railway station is in Kemijärvi, from where there is a bus connection to Pyhätunturi (Please always check the public timetable in advance).
Please note that as the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, you have a chance to observe them, but unfortunately, the team cannot guarantee to see the Northern Lights every trip.

What to bring
Please wear warm winter clothing: we highly recommend merino wool underlayer, fleece/ wool mid-layer, woolen socks, a warm hat, warm gloves, and a scarf/neckwarmer. If you need anything, please ask in advance. We might have some spare winter clothes to borrow.
