What to expect?
Fishing is a traditional way to catch your lunch and is a heightened experience when you're amongst the beautiful lake scenery in Lapland. For a couple of hours, forget about your busy life and concentrate on the silence of the wilderness—no wonder the locals call fishing a form of Finnish meditation.
Gazing deeply at the ice hole will clear your 'hard drive' quickly and efficiently. Yet, at the jolt of the rod, it will promptly sharpen your hunting instinct to the extreme. If you are lucky, you might catch a perch, white fish, or rainbow trout and cook it over an open fire for a snack!
The ice fishing season begins in winter when the lake is frozen. In the summertime, when the lake is not frozen, the team offers lake fishing.
Please wear warm winter clothing and suitable shoes. It is highly recommended to wear merino wool underlayer, fleece/wool mid-layer, woolen socks, warm hat, warm gloves, and a scarf/neckwarmer. If you need something, please ask the team in advance. They may have some spare winter clothes to borrow. In summer, please dress warmly, according to the weather.
This activity starts at the Lucky Ranch, located near the Pyhä-Luosto National park at Lake Pyhäjärvi. It is only 10 minutes drive from the year-round activity resort and ski resort Pyhätunturi.
You reach the venue by car or, when you book, choose from a selection of locations to be picked up by the team (additional fees may apply). This includes return transfers either from Pyhätunturi or Luosto.
The pick-up locations and times are as follows:
- Hotel Pyhätunturi: 15 min before the tour starting time
- Lapland Hotels Luostotunturi: 30 min before the tour starting time
