What to expect?
Begin the tour with pick up from Saariselkä and travel by minibus to the base camp in Ivalo. On arrival, you'll be provided with warm thermal clothes and shoes before you head out to the small village of Koppelo, far away from the city lights. From Koppelo, you embark on an exciting journey by snowmobile and sled to the team's secret fishing spots. At the fishing location, your experienced guide will provide you with instructions for ice fishing and give you your own fishing gear to use.
Equipped with your rod and bait (either worm or maggot), you are set for ice fishing - in true Lapland style. Drop your line through a hole in the ice and sit back, relax and wait for bites while soaking up the stunning natural scenery.
You will be served lunch and hot drinks in a warm Lappish "teepee" with an open fire. The food consists of delicious local reindeer meat and the fish you and the team caught.
If you prefer not to fish, you are welcome to relax by the campfire and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The beautiful landscapes make for a fantastic soothing experience, regardless of whether you are interested in fishing.
On the way back, you will visit the Wilderness camp where you can meet and feed their friendly reindeer.
