What to expect?
The Ice Cave Discovery is designed for the adventurous hiker looking to spend more time on the glacier in its winter outfit. Be prepared for a full day of adventure in a small group! On this tour we visit an ice cave and go on a glacier hike.We look for the best adventure possible on the glacier. Ice caves are constantly changing, therefore what cave we choose can vary from one day to the next. The average caves are from 30m in length and we will never be able to visit the exact same cave as the previous season. When scouting for caves we look not only at the size but also the colours and overall beauty.
From the meeting point at Jökulsárlón, we begin our journey in a modified super jeep to reach the base of the glacier. During the hike we will make our way through glacial moraines, gravel, glacial ice and we will see beautiful glacial features. Inside the cave you will have time to take in the unrealness of the blue ice and take photos.
You can expect to hike about 2 hours in total. This is our favorite winter journey and we recommend it whole heartedly!
