From Oslo: Jotunheimen Daytour with Snowcoach, Snowshoeing & Lunch

Experience the winter wonderland of Norway like a local on our historic Bombardier snowcoach tour in Jotunheimen. These nostalgic snowcoahes are still the primary means of transportation for Eidsbugarden’s residents during winter.

Our cozy busses will take you from Oslo to Tyin and back safely. Enjoy a self-guided snowshoe walk, admire the breathtaking landscape, and indulge in a delicious meal in the heart of Norway – all part of your memorable adventure.

Transfer: Oslo to Tyin

08.30am: Departure from Oslo by expres bus. Enjoy a scenic 5-hour ride through the Valdres region to the Filefjell and Jotunheimen area. You will see frozen lakes, waterfalls, and a snowy landscape with traditional Norwegian farms and houses along the way.

Pit stop: Tyinkrysset Fjellstue. Arrival: 1:00 pm. Duration: about 30 minutes. Departure: 1:30 pm.

You will have a chance to refresh yourself at Tyinkrysset Fjellstue, a cozy mountain lodge near the Tyinkrysset bus stop. You will get a tasty sandwich and a hot drink of your choice: coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. You can also use the restroom facilities if you need to.

You will continue your trip from Tyinkrysset Fjellstue to Tyin, where the snowcoaches are waiting for you. A mini-bus will pick you up at Tyinkrysset Fjellstue at 1:30 pm sharp. Please be on time to avoid missing the bus. You can bring your sandwich with you if you haven’t finished it. You will arrive at Tyin by mini-bus around 1:40 pm.

Activity: Snowcoach to Eidsbugarden

Departure: 1:45 pm. Duration: about 45 minutes. Arrival: 2:30 pm.

The residents of Eidsbugarden depend on these snowcoaches to connect them with the outside world during the long winter. Our snowcoaches, which can fit up to 12 people, run every day on a regular schedule between Tyin and Eidsbugarden, taking you on a 45-minute ride through a magical winter landscape.

Activity: Self-guided snowshoeing

When you get to Eidsbugarden, you will receive a pair of snowshoes to discover the amazing scenery on your own. Our helpful driver will show you how to use the snowshoes and recommend the best paths to follow. You can go on a self-guided snowshoe walk and enjoy the beauty of the winter landscape, breathing the fresh air and listening to the quiet. For a safer and more fun snowshoeing experience, we strongly suggest adding a private guide.

Meal: delicious food at Fondsbu

We want you to have an unforgettable adventure, so we have arranged a delicious meal for you at the Fondsbu lodge, the only eatery in Eidsbugarden that matches the beauty of the surroundings. The Fondsbu lodge has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, where you will enjoy a mouthwatering meal made with local ingredients. You can have the meal at any time that works for you during your visit to Eidsbugarden. Please let us know in advance if you have any food allergies so that we can accommodate your needs.

Activity: Snowcoach to Tyin

Departure: 4:15 pm. Duration: about 45 minutes.

You will return to civilization with fresh memories and rosy cheeks. The snowcoach will take you back to Tyin at 4:15 PM (16:15). Please be on time to catch your return departure.

Return transfer: Tyin to Oslo
Arrival by bus at Oslo Bus Terminal, approximately 10 pm.

You will need to dress properly for the cold weather and the high-altitude mountains of Jotunheimen to enjoy your winter adventure. We strongly suggest wearing warm, waterproof clothing, sturdy boots or shoes, and putting on sunscreen and sunglasses if it is sunny. Do not wear trail runners, everyday shoes, or sneakers. Please note that, for your safety, we may not let you join the tour if you wear inappropriate clothing.
