What to expect?
We warmly invite you to our homestead to join us for gáfestallan in our cozy lavvu, a traditional Sámi tent. Here, we light a bonfire and brew what we believe to be the world’s best coffee over it. Gáfestallan is a traditional Northern Sámi social gathering where we share stories about daily life and events over cups of coffee.
While you savor your bonfire-brewed coffee and sample our self-produced dried reindeer meat, we will immerse you in our life as Sámi people and reindeer herders. You will also learn about our Sámi traditions and customs in the Karasjok area, located in the Arctic North of Norway.
Your guide and host, Sire Márjá, speaks English and is eager to share her knowledge and stories about her family's way of life, traditions, and customs as Sámi reindeer herders. She will also explain the significance of their company name, Áldu, and provide insight into the role of women, both modern and traditional, in reindeer husbandry.
