From Bardufoss: Wild Moose Safari

The Bardufoss region has a significant population of wild moose. These magnificent animals live free in the deep Arctic forest. A fully grown moose bull is over 2 meters tall at the shoulders and weighs up to 750 kg (1650 lb). In winter, the moose is drawn into the broad valleys to feed and avoid the deep snow on higher elevations. This makes a unique opportunity for you to observe it!

Your adventure starts in Basecamp Snowman in Målselv Mountain Village or Rundhaug Gjestegård. 

Firstly, you will have 20 minutes of pre-info in the “Moose Room” to learn about the fantastic moose, where you learn about the moose's interaction with humans, the local hunting culture, the secrets of tracking and finding a moose, and more. You can also take a photo at the “Moose Selfie Spot.”

Afterward, you depart by bus or car on a safari through the forest, searching for the moose and other wildlife. The aim is to observe the animals from a respectful distance from the van, and whenever you get the chance, you can step out to get a bit closer and increase the chances for better photos. 

As the moose are shy animals, you can't feed them, and they don’t seem to get used to people. The aim is to find them in their natural habitat. And most of the time, we do!
